This piece was inspired by a joke shop clip-on grey hair extension that I found in artist and friend Hannah Jickling's closet. The clip appealed to our feminist gay aesthetics and I stole the clip from Hannah's wardrobe and began incorporating into mine. Part of my attraction to the clip was that I immediately associated it with the iconography of Susan Sontag, whose fierce elegance and intelligence is reflected in her classic grey swoop. I began making my own clips in her honour, the first in a series of feminist hair wear, which is to celebrate and commemorate feminists' signature style. When I heard of Susan Sontag's death I released the piece as a memoriam.
